Face Lift

Due to reasons such as advancing age, gravity, stress, smoking, drinking, malnutrition, the effect of sunlight, etc., sagging in the facial area, bags under the eyes, deep wrinkles on the face are seen.

In advancing ages, the soft tissue on the face decreases and sags downward over the facial bones under the influence of gravity. It is possible to characterize this situation as the skin of the face begins to be loose on the face. The aim of facelift surgeries is to eliminate this abundance and create a more taut and fresh skin.

With facelift surgery, sagging excess facial skin is removed and the thin muscle layer under the skin is reshaped and stretched.

How to recognize an aged face appearance?

The changes caused by aging in the face area are as follows:

• Forehead lines become more prominent
• Low eyebrows
• Sagging eyelids
• Lines in the corners of the eyes called crow’s feet
• Bags and lines under the eyes
• Sagging cheeks and reduced fullness in the cheek area
• Skin folds and deepening in the mouth-nose fold area
• Distortion-loss of jaw contour lines
• Sagging and fat deposits in the neck-jowl area
• Neck webbing-deep wrinkles
• Increased sunspots on the skin of the face

How are facelift surgeries performed?

Facelift surgeries are divided into the upper face including the forehead and eyebrows, the middle face including the eye line and its surroundings, and the lower face including the mouth, chin and neck area. The aim of facial rejuvenation surgeries is to hang the tissues in the sagging and loosened skin in different parts of the face in their original places and to tighten the skin by removing excess sagging skin.

In facelift surgery, scars are hidden in the scalp in the temporal region and in the natural folds in front of and behind the ears. Since the surgical scars are hidden, they are not very noticeable.

In combination with facelift surgeries, applications such as eyelid surgeries, skin peeling, filling – botox also increase success.

How long is the operation time?

The surgery takes 2-5 hours under general anesthesia. However, this time is prolonged if interventions such as upper and lower eyelid aesthetics, forehead lift, brow lift are performed together with isolated facial surgery.

What are the points to be considered in the postoperative period?

After the surgery, the patient stays in the hospital for one night and is then discharged.

Although pain is not a very expected condition, pain may be experienced that can be relieved with painkillers. In some cases, drains are placed to be removed after 1-2 days. It is possible to see swelling and bruises on the face. However, they disappear almost completely within 1-2 weeks. The patient returns to his/her daily life after this period.

The duration of the effect of appropriate facelift surgeries performed on suitable patients continues for 8-10 years. However, it is useful to keep in mind that aging continues in the postoperative period.

Neck Lift

Neck lift surgeries are applied for the treatment of problems such as wrinkling, sagging, thickening and displacement in the neck area, which increase with aging.

The effect of gravity on skin, tissue and muscles causes visible sagging and changes in the neck. Arch-shaped folds form on the neck, fat accumulates under the jowl. Together with the changes in the face, a noticeable change in the appearance of the person is observed.

In neck and lower face lift procedures, an incision is sometimes made in front of and behind the ear and sometimes under the chin. The skin of the face and neck remains free. The excess skin is removed. If necessary, liposuction is used to remove the fat in the jowl and under the chin.

Generally, facelift and neck lift are planned in combination. These surgeries are usually performed under general anesthesia.

As in every surgery, there is a scar here, but it does not attract attention because it is performed under the chin, behind the favorite line and in front of and behind the ear.

In the postoperative period, there may be mild pain, bruising and moderate swelling in the first days.
